Use social media creatively to capture collectors
Social media, SEO, video and other online tools can be leveraged as resources to improve your business's digital footprint.  Increasing your online traffic and expanding your public profile will strengthen your collector base.

We all want more sales and new customers and they are out there looking for you.  Learn to speak the language and develop a simple online strategy that can work for your lifestyle.  Even as little as an hour a week can bring results.  A focused and streamlined strategy for customer communication will convert prospects into collectors.
Facebook for artists
Facebook
Facebook-Worldwide, there are over 1.23 billion monthly active Facebook users.  In case you had any lingering doubts, statistically, Facebook is too big to ignore.  42% of marketers report that Facebook is critical or important to their business success.  This is a crowded marketplace, but you can’t afford to sit it out. The key is to use Facebook with a business account and supporting page and make sure that your efforts stand out from the crowd.

Instagram for artists
Instagram
Instagram has become a real game-changer for artists. One can build a large base of followers which can lead them to collectors and potential sales.  Serious buyers, collectors and people who just plain love art use Instagram to discover new art.  They can evaluate whatever art they find without any pressure.  Instagram is the perfect way to display your full range of your skills and talents and show the world how committed and serious you are about being an artist.  One of my gallery affiliates did $500,000 on sales from Instagram.  The Art of Sales Instagram tips highlight pitfalls and best practices to increase followers.

Youtube for artists
Youtube
YouTube reaches more adults than any cable network. In the United States, the number of people who watch television has fallen behind the number of people who watch YouTube on a regular basis.  Really great YouTube campaigns are generally comprised of supporting content from your website and other social media channels.  Google loves video and you can be taking advantage of it.  short snippets - 20-40 seconds is all you need.   Your channel strategy should essentially mirror a blogging strategy of consistent and good information, which provides value to your audience.

Linkedin for artists
Linkedin
Some artists have Linkedin Profiles which is another way that one can connect with colleagues and potential collectors online.  Linkedin offers a powerful networking opportunity to artists.  They can use LinkedIn to meet gallery owners, corporate art reps, interior designers, collectors, and other successful art professionals. This can greatly extend their reach and expand their horizons as professionals.

P'interest for artists
P'Interest
Having a P'Interest profile and ‘Pinning’ regularly will only improve your online SEO. This will bring more attention and help you build community.  Using alternative ideas and posts you can develop an alternative following. Some                    ideas are:
  • Highlight your collectors. Many artists post installation shots from their collector’s home. Create a board to highlight your collectors – this shows that people are buying your work!
  • Post a board with testimonials from your collectors.
